…your best date ever! Are you ready? Now, if you’ve read any of my other blog posts I’m sure you’ve picked up on my motto”
“plan the heck out of an idea… then go with the flow.”
I’m going to assume we’re on the same page. I’m assuming you’re going to plan out your engagement session and not just roll up with no idea what’s about to happen. I’m assuming you’ve been looking forward to these photos… you’ve scoured Pinterest… and that you’re already dreaming about holding these photos in your own two hands!
So, since that is the case, we’ll jump right into 5 things you can do to turn your engagement photos into the best date ever!!
What outrageous date ideas have you had that you couldn’t quite justify?
This is the time. Your crazy ideas are totally justifiable. You only have a short time of being engaged so just say “Yes!” [again]. Do you imagine being one of those couples who vegges out on the couch every night because and adventure takes too much effort?! I didn’t think so. That’s not who you are. So get out there and make that crazy dream come true!
Give your man a chance to give you his input. He’s in all the photos too and the happier he is and the more comfortable he feels… the happier you’ll be with the photos. He’s probably imagining standing under a tree with you in a “prom pose” which, let’s be honest, isn’t anyone’s dream come true. So why don’t you ask him:
Giving him the space to communicate his opinion on the matter will help tailor the night so you both will enjoy it… even if there is some give and take.
You know what is a fun-killer?? Being in “work-mode.” When you have your to-do list on the mind and you’re thinking through all the things you need to get done it’s not likely you’ll be able to live in and enjoy the moment that you have with each other right now. Get your chores done early in the week. Is your shoot on Friday? Make a list of the things you need to do before then and have your list done by Thursday night. I am a check list QUEEN so if you need any help with that you just let me know! Then you can use Friday to get excited for your photo shoot together. Which leads me to my next point.
Leave him notes. Schedule a hair appointment earlier in the day so your hair is magical [anyone else unable to make their hair look as good as their hair dresser??]. Get reservations for a special dinner after your engagement shoot. Buy a new outfit for the shoot but don’t wear it till the day of. What are the parts of the photo shoot you’re really looking forward to? Milk them! Make this more than an event, make it an experience.
Lastly, don’t end the date when the photo shoot ends. Let that be the start of your night. You’re all dolled up and your man looks AMAZING! We don’t waste moments like these we revel in them! Go enjoy him. Go dream about what your lives will look like together in 20 years and tell him all the things you are looking forward to.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how its done *drops the mic*
Also, if you go to the beach or fly in a hot air balloon, please bring me along for your best date ever!!!
*I found this image of the hot air balloon on Google. I tried to go back and find it to credit the source but couldn’t find it again *palm smack in the face*
